Dangerous Weather Safety
The season for potentially dangerous weather is upon us. It is very important that we as a congregation are prepared and have a plan in place should dangerous weather occur. In the event that conditions such as a tornado threaten, the shelter location is in the basement area. The preferred area to seek shelter is along the south basement wall (wall closest to playground) and in the rooms along the east side (restroom side). A prompt and orderly evacuation to the shelter area will help ensure the safety of all. Having a plan and swift implementation of that plan is the foundation to surviving a dangerous situation.

Ladies’ Book Club Date
The next book club date will be July 29th at 6:30 pm at the home of Cyndi Messer. The discussion will be on the book Because He Loves Me by Elyse Fitzpatrick.

WPAFB-TATTOO
The sixth annual Freedom’s Call 2010 on Friday, June 25th, will recognize the contributions of our military veterans, their families and all Americans who support them with a spectacular presentation of flyovers, music, narration and fireworks. The Air Force Materiel Command Tattoo is an annual event hosted by AFMC and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The free show highlights Air Force Airmen and capabilities and is designed to strengthen bonds with neighboring communities. The gates open at 4 pm. Tattoo’s theme for 2010 will commemorate veterans from the Korean War, which began June 25th, 1950 when North Korea opened fire on South Korea’s Army positions south of the 38th parallel, the line which serves as the border between the two countries. If you would be interested in carpooling or have any questions, please see Carolyn Perks.

Ladies' Fall Retreat
Ladies: Mark your calendar now for the Fall Retreat. We will be going to the Murray House Bed and Breakfast, located at 3774 Urbana Road, November 5th & 6th. Information will follow closer to the event. Thank You!

Talley Trio Concert
Springfield’s Summer Arts Festival will be hosting a free concert with The Talley Trio, a popular Southern gospel group, on Wednesday night, June 23rd. The concert will be held outdoors at Veteran’s Park Amphitheater in Springfield, beginning at 8:00 pm. There will be no Prayer AXIS that night, and the entire CBC church family is invited to attend the concert at the park. The Talley Trio (made up of Roger, Debra, and their daughter Lauren) has won several Dove Awards, numerous Singing News Fan Awards, and recorded ten #1 singles. For more information, visit www.springfieldartscouncil.org or see Pastor Tim with any questions.

Special Music Schedule
If you are interested in providing special music (vocal or instrumental) during an upcoming worship service, please fill out a survey in the foyer and turn it in to Pastor Tim. Whether you have a song prepared or would just like to play your instrument or sing once in a while, please fill out the survey to let Pastor Tim know and ensure that you’re included in the upcoming schedule. Thanks!

Summer Worship Choir
Former, current, and future choir members are invited to participate in a summer worship choir for one week only on Sunday, July 11th. All adults (9th grade on up) are welcome to sing, and if you’ve never been a part of the choir before, this would be a great opportunity to try it out with no year-long strings attached! The only rehearsal will be the warmup on Sunday the 11th at 8:45 am, and then the choir will sing during the 10:30 service. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Tim.

Senior Trip
The Senior High Youth Group will be going to Pigeon Forge for their senior trip in July and your help is needed. To cut down on expenses for the group, we are asking for your food, gift card, and monetary donations. If you are able to help in this way, please see the list in the foyer for the items needed. Thank you in advance for helping in this way!

Blessings in a Bottle
Bottles where due on Fathers' Day. If you forgot to drop off your bottle, stop by the office this week and drop them off. We will see that it gets delivered. Many thanks!
